Energy Saving Audit & ESOS

Energy Saving Audit

An energy saving audit will identify no-cost and low-cost improvements as well as longer-term investment projects. We can discuss with you potential funding sources for your energy projects and help you prioritise your spend.

It is a pretty safe bet that energy prices will continue to rise. The value of saving energy now will therefore increase over time, so why wait when we can help you reduce your overheads now.

As certified thermographers we can also utilise the infrared technology to help identify wasted energy, overheated processes and heat loss from buildings.

If you are developing an ISO 50001 Energy Management System, this type of audit will assist with identifying and prioritising the opportunities for improvement.

ESOS – Energy Saving Opportunities Scheme

The ESOS Regulations 2014 brought into force Article 8 of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive and mandate that every four years large organisations in the UK must undertake comprehensive audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.

ESOS applies to any large organisation that carries out a trade or a business and any corporate group where at least one member of the UK group meets the ESOS criteria of:
– a UK company that either employs 250 or more people, or
– has an annual turnover in excess of 50 million euro and an annual balance sheet total in excess of 43 million euro.

Phase 2 of the ESOS compliance scheme ended on 5 December 2019. To comply with the regulations, a Lead Energy Assessor needed to conduct an ESOS Assessment for the large organisation. In certain cases organisations complied automatically by providing evidence that they have achieved certification to ISO 50001, the international standard for energy management. If you think you should have complied with Phase 2 and did not, please get in touch and we can help you assess what is now required.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss compliance with future phases of the ESOS Regulations.
